Hon. Carlos James to Showcase St. Vincent at Berlin Economic Forum 2025

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will take centre stage at the Berlin Economic Forum 2025, where the Hon. Carlos James, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development, and Culture, is set to participate as a panellist. The forum, held alongside ITB Berlin from March 4th to 6th, will provide a global platform to discuss sustainability, economic growth, and tourism development.

Minister James will engage with international stakeholders to highlight SVG’s commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible travel. “The Berlin Economic Forum offers a unique opportunity to showcase our nation’s dedication to eco-tourism and sustainable development on a global scale. We are eager to share our progress, explore investment opportunities, and foster collaborations that align with our environmental and economic goals,” stated Minister James.

Driving Sustainable Growth

SVG has made significant strides in eco-friendly tourism initiatives, ensuring that its rapid industry growth remains in harmony with environmental conservation. In 2024, the country recorded a 25.6% increase in stay-over arrivals, surpassing pre-pandemic figures by 39% and welcoming over 100,000 visitors for the first time. This growth has been supported by enhanced airlift capacity, new sustainable accommodations, and investments in renewable energy projects and waste management systems.

As SVG continues to position itself as a leader in eco-conscious tourism, participation in high-level discussions at the Berlin Economic Forum will reinforce its strategy to attract responsible travellers and long-term investments that support both the environment and local communities.

Expanding Global Partnerships at ITB Berlin

In conjunction with the Berlin Economic Forum, SVG will also showcase its thriving tourism sector at ITB Berlin 2025, the world’s leading travel trade show. Director of Sales for the UK & Europe Markets for the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, Natasha Anderson, will lead efforts to engage with key industry players, highlighting the destination’s unique offerings and its growing appeal to the European market.

“Events like ITB Berlin allow us to connect with global tourism professionals and strengthen our relationships with partners who share our commitment to sustainability. By participating in both the Economic Forum and ITB, we can drive meaningful collaborations that enhance our tourism landscape and ensure long-term benefits for our people,” said Anderson.

The delegation will hold strategic meetings with travel partners, media representatives, and industry leaders.
