DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM TAKES KIDS’ TOURISM SUMMER CAMP ISLANDWIDE IN 2026
Thursday, 4th June 2026 – Building on the remarkable success and growing popularity of its annual Kids’ Tourism Summer Camp, the Department of Tourism within the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development is pleased to announce the expansion and decentralisation of the programme for 2026.
For the first time since its inception, the Kids’ Tourism Summer Camp will be delivered across multiple communities throughout Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, making the programme more accessible to children in both mainland and Grenadine communities. The initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that tourism education, awareness and opportunities reach young Vincentians wherever they live.
The camp, designed for children between the ages of 8 and 14, will offer a dynamic and engaging blend of field trips, hikes, arts and crafts, tourism talks, interactive learning experiences and other exciting activities aimed at fostering an appreciation for the country’s tourism industry, natural environment, culture and heritage.
The 2026 camp will be hosted at the following zones:
- Kingstown: July 27–28
- Windward: July 30–31
- Leeward: July 30–31
- Bequia: August 6–7
Sessions will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The decision to decentralise the programme comes on the heels of significant growth experienced in 2025, when participation exceeded expectations and demonstrated a strong and growing interest among young people in learning about tourism and its role in national development.
Speaking on the initiative, Mrs. Faylene King; Director of Tourism shared that the expansion is intended to sustain and accelerate the programme’s upward trajectory by removing geographic barriers and creating greater opportunities for participation.
“The overwhelming response to last year’s camp reinforced the value of investing in tourism education at an early age. This year, we are excited to bring the programme directly into communities across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, ensuring that more children can benefit from this enriching experience. By decentralising the camp, we are not only increasing access but also nurturing a new generation of tourism ambassadors who understand, appreciate and can contribute to the sustainable development of our country.”
The Kids’ Tourism Summer Camp forms part of the Department’s broader efforts to cultivate tourism awareness among young people while promoting national pride, environmental stewardship and community engagement.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children early, as spaces are limited. Registration is available online through the link provided on the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development’s social media platforms.
