SVGCC Kicks Off 2026 WOW Initiative

SVGCC Launches 2026 “World of Work” Programme to Prepare Students for Career Success

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) officially launched its 2026 World of Work (WOW) Programme on 23 January 2026. Now in its third instalment, the WOW Programme is open to final-year students from the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies (DASGS) and the Division of Technical and Vocational Education (DTVE).

The programme, facilitated by the SVGCC’s Centre for General and Continuing Education (CGCE), aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional environments. Speaking at the launch, CGCE Programme Officer Ms. Shyon Joseph described the WOW Programme as “a structured career-readiness initiative designed to support students as they transition from education to employment”.

As part of the programme, students will participate in a series of targeted workshops to develop essential workplace skills, including effective communication, self-management and professionalism. There will also be a recruitment fair, which will provide opportunities for students to secure internships and employment.

The Deputy Director of the SVGCC, Mrs. Veronica Luke, in her address, congratulated students for participating in this voluntary programme and encouraged them to commit to attending all sessions.

The first presentation of the 2026 edition of the programme was delivered by Mrs. Annekah Kirby, Human Resource Manager at ACADO. Her session, titled “Navigating Work After College”, offered students first-hand insights into employer expectations. Topics covered included interview dos and don’ts, strategies for workplace success, and professional characteristics that can lead to career advancement.

The WOW programme is a demonstration of the SVGCC’s ongoing commitment to fostering career-ready graduates, capable of making meaningful contributions in their chosen fields.

Employers who wish to participate in the programme are encouraged to send an email to [email protected] or call 457-4503.
