The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) showcased Taiwan’s remarkable journey in technological innovation. It celebrated its enduring partnership with St. Vincent and the Grenadines during a special screening of the documentary A Chip Odyssey at Russell’s Cinema on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
The event brought together students, government officials, and guests to learn about Taiwan’s rise as a global leader in semiconductor technology while highlighting the strong diplomatic relationship between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, which marks its 45th anniversary in August.
H.E. Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, said the documentary tells the inspiring story of Taiwan’s transformation from humble beginnings into a global technology powerhouse.
“However, technological success has little meaning if it cannot be shared with our friends and diplomatic allies,” Ambassador Fan said. “Beyond public safety, our cooperation has also extended to smart agriculture through the Young Farmer Plant Project in Orange Hill and the digitalisation of health care services, helping to improve lives and strengthen national resilience.”
Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information, Hon. Philip Jackson, said the documentary represented much more than advances in semiconductor technology.
“We’re here to celebrate our partner, Taiwan, and in August we’ll be celebrating the 45th anniversary of our relationship. Forty-five years of friendship is something we should celebrate.”
The occasion also marked Ambassador Fan’s third anniversary as the Republic of China (Taiwan) Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
