The arrest of Opposition protesters continue in SVG: Lawyer

1 Min Read

Since the protest of August 5 2021, in which the Prime Minister of SVG suffered a wound to the head, several Opposition protesters have been arrested and charged on the island.

Local Lawyer Kay Bacchus- Baptiste said one of her clients, Mr Brizzy John from the Central Leeward town of Barrouallie, was taken into custody today.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in the island’s capital, Bacchus-Baptiste said he is currently at the Criminal Investigation Department at the Central Police Station in Kingstown.

“He was taken up by the police on Tuesday morning and driven around from station to station and eventually brought to Kingstown, sometime after 1 pm.”.

“He is currently at CID, and they told him that the charge against him is that he was obstructing justice. Why?. Because he intervened or tried to intervene in saving Carly John who was placed in a choke-hold by the police”.

“They have not finished arresting our citizens”, Bacchus Baptiste said.
