The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services has issued a 72-hour weather outlook, warning residents to prepare for a tropical wave that is expected to bring thunderstorms and potential flash flooding by the end of the week.
Wind speeds will remain moderate to fresh, ranging from 25 to 35 km/h, with occasional increases up to 40 km/h. Marine conditions on Thursday are expected to be moderate, with swells reaching up to 2.2 meters (7 feet) east of the islands. Small-craft operators and sea-bathers are urged to exercise caution due to these above-normal swells and occasional gusty winds.
The weather is expected to deteriorate by Friday, July 31st, as a tropical wave moves across the region. Meteorological Forecaster Joan Mc Donald has indicated that the islands will see occasionally cloudy skies, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms.
By Saturday, August 1st, the weather is projected to stabilize, returning to mostly fair and breezy conditions. While the night may bring partly cloudy skies and a few showers, no marine advisories or warnings are currently in place for the start of the weekend. Sea conditions are also expected to subside, with swells ranging from 0.5 to 1.8 meters (1.5 to 6 feet).
