Tracy Berkeley has been named Chief Executive Officer by the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA). She will be the first woman to lead this organization, making history in the process. Since June 2022, Berkeley has been the Interim CEO of the BTA.
Tracy Berkeley started working for the Bermuda Tourism Authority in January 2020, and in June 2022, she became the interim CEO. In the last nine months, Berkeley has worked hard to stabilize the organization so that the team can be more productive. She has also worked with partners to deliver the BTA’s award-winning Lost Yet Found campaign and raised awareness of the destination by meeting with stakeholders in the travel trade and media industries. With her steady hand, Berkeley has helped build a new leadership team that is better suited to the organization’s needs. She has also reconnected with key industry leaders and, most importantly, restored the BTA’s credibility in the eyes of its stakeholders. Berkeley is a candidate for the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) in 2024 and is on a number of private and public boards.
Tracy Berkeley said this when she was asked about being named CEO of the BTA: “As the new CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, I feel both proud and humble. We are starting to see small steps of growth and a revitalized community. Our success is partly due to a focused, data-driven strategic plan for recovery and our determination to see it through. We have been able to use Bermuda’s best selling points and spread the message that we are open for business by highlighting the island’s best qualities and working with media and trade partners around the world. I am very thankful for the chance to help grow this important part of the island’s economy.”
Wayne Caines, Chairman of the BTA Board, said, “We are excited to name Tracy Berkeley as CEO, and we are sure that the organization and Bermuda as a whole will benefit greatly from her leadership and expertise.” He kept going, “As Interim CEO, she answered the call to take on the challenge and did a great job following the board’s clear instructions. I am sure that she will keep doing this with our help and the help of the community on the island.”
“Tracy Berkeley’s appointment as CEO of the BTA is good news for me. I agree that she should keep the job, and I’m glad that as the Minister of Tourism, I was consulted about the choice. I’m excited to keep working with Ms. Berkeley, her team, and all of our other business partners.” Vance Campbell JP, MP, Minister of Tourism and Cabinet Office, said.
“Our organization and the tourism business as a whole have more energy and focus. As we get ready for what looks like it will be a steady year of growth, we are working hard to strengthen our local and international partnerships and make plans for the future of tourism. The team is making progress, with a focus on improving products and service levels. We can’t wait to put our ideas into action and work together to make sure Bermuda continues to do well “Tracy Berkeley stopped.
