The Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre has avoided a potential closure through a new state-led ownership agreement finalized just weeks before its lease was set to expire.

The government-owned entity e TecK acquired all shares of the hotel’s former holding company, rebranding it as HotelTT Asset Management Company Limited.

While the State now holds the assets, Hilton will continue to manage daily operations under a short-term contract, ensuring the facility remains open to international bookings.

This transition provides critical job security for hundreds of employees who previously faced uncertainty regarding their salaries and future employment.

The new owner-operator model is intended to maintain the hotel’s global branding while the government evaluates necessary renovations and long-term strategy.

This move effectively resolves a period of labor unrest and legal ambiguity that had threatened the iconic national asset.
