Forecasters are keeping their eye on an area of potential tropical development in the Atlantic Ocean.

It continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorm and is located about 900 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Meteorologist Jayme King says that it has a 10 percent of developing in the next couple days, but a 70 percent chance of formation by early next week.

If the system does develop into a tropical depression, it would become the third named storm of the season and be named “Chantal.”
