In Uganda, a two-year-old kid miraculously survived after being swallowed by a renegade hippopotamus. The hippo expelled the child after an eyewitness threw stones at the animal, according to a report by Capital FM Uganda quoting police.
According to the news source, the child was playing near his home on the margins of a lake in the town of Katwe Kabatoro on December 4 when he was attacked by a ravenous hippo. Chrispas Bagonza, a bystander, began throwing boulders at the beast before it could completely consume him. This resulted in the animal “vomiting” the boy, according to Capital FM Uganda.
The authorities recognised the child as Iga Paul and reported that the beast had seized him by the skull and consumed half of his body. They stated that the youngster had hand injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
“The sufferer was transported to a nearby clinic for treatment of hand injuries before being moved to Bwera Hospital for further care. After obtaining a rabies vaccine, he recovered completely and was discharged. He was then turned over to his parents by the police “In a news release, the Uganda Police said.
However, a police spokeswoman urged parents residing near animal sanctuaries such as lakes and wildlife centres to be wary of crocodiles and hippos that may attack them.
