The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held this Monday a meeting with the Electoral Technical Team of the United Nations (UN), in view of the presidential elections to be held on July 28.
Through his account in the social network X, the Chancellor detailed that, in addition to this meeting, the UN team will hold meetings with representatives of the Public Powers and actors of all political sectors of the country.
“We have met with the UN Electoral Technical Team to discuss the July 28 presidential elections and national sovereignty. As part of its visit to our country, in the coming days the UN team will also hold meetings with representatives of the Public Powers and actors of various political parties that will be part of the upcoming electoral process,” he stressed in the social network.
It should be recalled that in mid-April, the National Electoral Council (CNE) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA) and the Observatory of Strategic Thinking on Regional Integration (OPEIR) for the accompaniment of the presidential elections.
Subsequently, he held a meeting with both CEELA and OPEIR.
He also held meetings with the Exploratory Mission of the European Union (EU) and with the exploratory commission of the Carter Center, both of which are also international observers of the elections.
