Upsurge in severe influenza virus infection in Sint Maarten

Omar Ottley, Sint Maarten’s Minister of people Health, says the island has seen an upsurge in serious viral illnesses and warns the people to be cautious.

“We prioritize your health, and acting quickly can mean the difference between a mild and severe flu.” “I urge anyone experiencing severe flu symptoms to contact their doctor right away,” Minister Ottley stated.

The so-called “flu” or “common cold” Influenza viral infection is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the Influenza A virus family.

Fever, headaches, exhaustion, sore throat, dry or productive cough, muscular and body aches are all symptoms of the flu.
