Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves earlier yesterday signed a US $3.5 Million agreement with the Ambassador of Japan to St Vincent and the Grenadines H.E Mitsuhiko Okada, for the construction of a Black Fish Facility in Barrouallie.
According to reports the signing followed discussions that included the further strengthening of relations between both nations, with a delegation headed by Ambassador Ken Shimanouchi, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan, for Japan and Caricom Relations and UN Affairs.
Discussions were also held about a project to overhaul ‘Little Tokyo’, which the delegation visited yesterday with Minister of Transport Julian Francis.
Last week Minister of Finance Camillo Gonsalves, announced that SVG received two Coast Guard boats valued at EC $4.97 million from Japan.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health also received items valued at EC $770,000 while the Ministry of Transport received equipment valued at EC $2 million.
