US blockade puts the lives of Venezuelan children at risk
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Tuesday May 21st that the coercive measures imposed by the United States (US) Government on Venezuela are putting the lives of a group of Venezuelan children at risk.
Via Twitter , the diplomat reported the case of five Venezuelan children who suffer from serious liver diseases and are in Argentina receiving care with the support of state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA, however they have not been able to receive their treatments due to the US financial blockade against Venezuela.
“The transfer of the necessary resources for the continuity of their treatments has been impossible due to the financial blockade,” Arreaza stated on the digital platform.
More than 14 thousand Venezuelans return with the return to the homeland plan
More than 14,000 Venezuelans have been able to return to Venezuela thanks to the return to the homeland plan, overcoming the blockade of the different airlines and fuel companies, which are preventing the return of nationals to the South American country.
On Monday, May 20th, two planes landed in Maiquetía from Peru, with 54 minors, 35 elderly persons, seven pregnant women and eight people with health diagnoses.
As of Monday, 14,251 Venezuelans from different parts of South America have returned home. 6,965 Venezuelans have returned from Brazil. There are already 2,741 repatriated from Peru. From Ecuador there are 2,797 Venezuelans who have returned. From Colombia, 764 have returned. From Argentina, there are 434 Venezuelans who have returned. From Chile and the Dominican Republic 272 and 276 Venezuelans have returned respectively and finally from Uruguay and Panama one Venezuelan has returned from each.
Venezuela and Cuba strengthen ties against US aggressions
On Monday May 20th, Raúl Castro Ruz, , Army General and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, along with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, and Adán Chávez, Ambassador of Venezuela in Cuba, to highlight and strengthen the ties that unite Cuba and Venezuela.
Minister Arreaza, through his Twitter social network account, thanked and underlined that in the meeting topics on the regional and international agenda were exchanged. Meanwhile, Raúl Castro and Díaz-Canel reiterated their support for President Nicolás Maduro and the civic-military union of the Venezuelan people.
National Constituent Assembly of Venezuela will be valid until December 2020
During the extraordinary session held on Monday by the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) of Venezuela, the validity of its functions was approved until December 31st , 2020.
The decision was made after the proposal presented by the constituent Pedro Carreño, who made the request within the framework of the plenipotentiary power granted by the people. Through his Twitter account, the president of the Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, indicated that the agency will function until December 31st, 2020 “to continue fulfilling the tasks which it was entrusted.”
Venezuelan Foreign Minister exposes consequences of the US blockade

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza denounced that the attempted coup of April 30th is part of the US strategy to impose an illegitimate Government in that nation, following the illegal blockade and the unilateral sanctions decreed.
Arreaza recalled how the US Government appropriated the subsidiary of the state oil company PDVSA, Citgo, and prevented the resources from being delivered to the Venezuelan State. In addition, he reiterated his denouncement of the resources blocked by the Portuguese bank Novo Banco, which are to be used for the purchase of food, medicines and payment of medical treatments.
Bolivarian people celebrate a year of the electoral victory of Nicolás Maduro
Revolutionary forces, men, women, youth and workers were mobilized in commemoration of the first anniversary of the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro in the elections of May 20th, 2018.
The Venezuelan people came out early in the streets of Caracas, capital city, to ratify their support for the Bolivarian Revolution, their commitment to defend democracy and national sovereignty, and to reject US interference.
President Nicolás Maduro ratifies call for dialogue and asks for the going ahead of elections to the National Assembly
President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed his willingness to establish a dialogue with the opposition, referring to the mediation that takes place in Norway. “Yes to peace, yes to dialogue, yes to development,” said the head of state at a ceremony at the Miraflores Palace (government headquarters), where the march in commemoration of the first anniversary of the popular triumph in the elections of May 20th, 2018 culminated.
Furthermore, the president proposed the going forward of the elections to the National Assembly (AN), which is in contempt since 2016 and whose actions are void.
“We are going to elections of the National Assembly to see who has the people, who has the votes, we take up the challenge, we are going to seek a peaceful, democratic and electoral solution,” he said.
Venezuela and Russia strengthen cooperation in Opec +meeting
The president of the state oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), Manuel Quevedo, held a meeting with the Russian Energy Minister, Alexandr Valentinovich Nóvak, in the framework of the ministerial conference of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and other allied nations, in Saudi Arabia.
PDVSA reported that the meeting aimed to “strengthen the relations of cooperation and respect between these two great nations,”. In this regard, Quevedo stressed the importance of “maintaining a respectful relationship with the Russian Federation, always preponderating cooperation and agreements to maintain the stability of the oil market.”
Venezuela presides over the 14th Meeting of the Joint Monitoring Ministerial Committee (CMMC) of OPEC and the allied countries that are not members of the organization, in what is known as Opec +, in order to review the levels of compliance with the Declaration of Cooperation for the Voluntary Adjustment of Oil Production, agreed at the end of 2016.
US sanctions prevent shipping companies from moving food to Venezuela
The national head of the Local Committees of Supply and Production (CLAP) of Venezuela, Freddy Bernal, advised on Sunday that ten shipping companies that transport food to the South American country have been subject to sanctions by the United States Government (USA), making the arrival of essential items difficult.
The US administration “sanctioned 10 of the 12 shipping companies that transport food to Venezuela, which causes delays in the arrival of items to the country, ie, what arrived in a month, now takes three months,” denounced the Venezuelan official .
President Nicolás Maduro announces dialogue with Venezuelan opposition and Norway mediation
President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced on Friday that a new process of dialogue with the opposition of his country and with the mediation of representatives of Norway has begun.
“The talks have started on the right foot to move towards agreements of peace, concord, harmony and I ask for the support of the people,” he said after thanking the Government of Norway for receiving the delegation.
Venezuela will respond to invasion of its embassy under international law
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza reported that his country is evaluating the response to the illegal invasion of its embassy in Washington, United States (USA), within the framework of international law, based on the principle of reciprocity.
From his Twitter account, Arreaza repudiated the illegal taking of the diplomatic headquarters by the Washington Police. He emphasized that with this action the US Government fails to comply with its obligations under the Vienna Convention.
International analysts have criticized the invasion of the embassy as a violation of the Vienna Convention. In addition, this US action set a dangerous precedent, as it sends a message to the world about the future aggression and illegal occupation of other diplomatic headquarters.
