The Government of Venezuela ordered on Monday all its diplomatic personnel from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay to withdraw and demanded the immediate expulsion of representatives from these countries from Venezuela, after they refused to accept the victory of President Nicolás Maduro in the elections on July 28.
Through an official statement, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry stated that this decision was taken in view of the «disastrous precedent which undermines our national sovereignty»while he stressed that the nation expresses its strongest rejection of the interventionist actions and statements of the group of right-wing governments, subordinated to Washington.
These governments, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry emphasized, are openly committed “with the sordidest ideological postulates of international fascism, trying to republish the failed and defeated Lima Group, they claim to ignore the electoral results of the presidential elections held this Sunday, July 28».
“The Bolivarian Government has stressed that it will confront all actions that undermine the climate of peace and coexistence that so many efforts have demanded from the Venezuelan people, we are therefore opposed to all interventionist and siege pronouncements with which, repeatedly, the will of the Venezuelan people is being ignored”, said the Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, he also stated that the government reserves all legal and political actions to respect, preserve and defend the inalienable right of Venezuela to self-determination.
For his part, the chancellor Yvan Gil specified in another message broadcast on X that “More than 100 social and political organizations, from all continents of the planet, celebrate the democratic electoral process held on 28 July, recognize the work of the electoral arbiter, as well as the results issued by this entity, and call for condemnation of the violence promoted and generated by the Venezuelan extreme right, international and imperial. In defense of peace and popular sovereignty”.
Chilean president Gabriel Boric refused to recognize the election result and elected president Nicolas Maduro. “Elections that generate such excitement must be absolutely transparent and verifiable by international observers, not dependent on or supportive of the government”, said Boric.
Likewise, on Sunday night, the Embassy of Venezuela in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was besieged by opposition and extreme right-wing demonstrators backed by the government of Javier Milei, which also announced on this day the lack of knowledge of the results of the election.
