Venezuelan Mission delivers donations to shelters in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela through the Venezuelan Embassy in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines delivered a donation of food for the people who are in the shelters designated by the Government of that country, as part of the actions carried out to help the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the emergency situation that was generated in April by the explosive eruption of the La Soufrière volcano.
The Head of the Venezuelan Diplomatic Mission in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Francisco Pérez Santana, distributed and delivered this “humble donation on behalf of the people and the Government of Venezuela for our brothers in Saint Vincent” and stressed that “we have carried out this food distribution by applying the methodology taught by our Commander Hugo Chávez and called point and circle; this is to deliver the food to the shelters closest to our diplomatic headquarters”.
The shelters located at Brighton Methodist School, Calliaqua Anglican School, Fairhall Primary School and Belmont Government School with a total of 246 persons benefited from the delivery of sardines, red beans, black beans, baked beans and rice.
Last April, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela sent the ship “AB Goajira (T-63)” with fifteen (15) experts from the “Simón Bolívar” Humanitarian Task Force, who are trained in search and rescue, pre-hospital emergency and risk assessment; in addition to twenty tons of supplies such as: canned goods, sheets, blankets, mattresses, and hammocks, and three tons of drinking water.
At the same time, the Venezuelan Navy ship “AB Goajira (T-63)” carried out the humanitarian maritime bridge between Saint Vincent and Saint Lucia with the mobilisation of supplies from the Republic of Cuba and Saint Lucia, respectively, to attend to the population affected by the volcano.
Pérez Santana stressed that the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela will continue to work to strengthen the ties of solidarity, brotherhood and cooperation with the people and government of Venezuela, following the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez.
