Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced many changes to Barbados’ diplomatic representation in foreign jurisdictions on Saturday.
Noel Lynch, Barbados’ Ambassador to the United States and the Organisation of American States, has been asked to resign effective January 15.
The Prime Minister stated that Lynch will now take on “the very serious responsibility” of leading the country’s bid to host the Cricket World Cup finals in Barbados in June.
“This is a mammoth responsibility, and for which we only have six months, and I’m satisfied that Ambassador Lynch’s expertise will guide us safely.”
Vic Fernandes was named the country’s next Ambassador to the United States by the Prime Minister.
Dr. Sharon Marshall will be named Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba as well.
Meanwhile, Cleviston Haynes, a former Central Bank governor, has been named as Ambassador to Ireland.
Following E Mackie Holder’s nomination as Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, former Senator Lorenzo Harewood will be the new Counsel General in New York.
Further modifications to diplomatic posts will be disclosed during the next two months, according to the Prime Minister.
