A vigorous tropical wave is expected to affect St Vincent (SVG) this Thursday, August 13th, 2026, bringing significant weather impacts. According to data from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Meteorological Services, residents should be alert for possible flash flooding and occasionally strong winds.
Leading up to the wave’s arrival, the SVG Meteorological Services has issued a weather advisory for Tuesday, August 11th, cautioning against reduced visibility and moderate air quality due to Saharan dust-haze. While Wednesday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, wind speeds are forecast to increase to “fresh” (30–35 km/h) by Wednesday night as the system nears.
On Thursday, as the vigorous tropical wave crosses the islands, winds are expected to become strong, reaching speeds between 40 and 48 km/h. Sky conditions will shift to partly cloudy or cloudy, accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Marine interests are also facing deteriorating conditions. While seas are currently smooth to slight, a Marine Advisory has been issued for Thursday.
Wave heights in open water are projected to rise significantly, reaching moderate to rough levels of 1.8m to 3.0m (6ft to 10ft). Small-craft operators are urged to be prepared for these above-normal swells and strong winds.
