Vincentians charged with importing $700 000 worth of weed into Barbados remains locked up

Three Vincentian nationals who were charged with importing over $700 000 worth of cannabis into Barbados, have been placed on further remand.

They are boat captain, Michael Montgomery Jackson, chief engineer Brendon Elliston Ollivierre and deckhand Jake-Jess McPherson King.

Jackson, 41, of Questelles, St Vincent; Ollivierre, 40, of La Pomp, Bequia and King, 26, of Mt Pleasant, Bequia, are accused of having 176.9 kilogrammes of cannabis; having a trafficable quantity of the drug; having it with intent to supply and importing the drug on April 27, this year.

Attorney Angella Mitchell-Gittens has put the prosecution on notice when the accused men reappeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

“Have the file ready in the matter of three non-nationals accused of importing over $700 000 worth of cannabis or I will be asking for the charges to be dismissed”.

Jackson was represented by attorney Mitchell-Gittens; Ollivierre by Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim and Latisha Springer and King by attorney Martie Garnes.
