Members of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force continue to embrace opportunities to improve their academic status in various areas.
Corporal of Police Omaro Thomas, attached to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Band, is our most recent graduate to have graduated from the University College of the Commonwealth Caribbean with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Resource Management.
The ceremony held in Jamaica at the National Arena Sporting Complex on July 23rd, 2017, saw some 713 students from across the Caribbean graduating with different disciplines at different levels.
Cpl. Thomas represented the first batch of students who were recruited by the University from this country and was the first to attend a commencement ceremony in Jamaica, where the national flag of St.Vincent and the Grenadines was flown in his honor.
He serenaded the audience with two musical renditions on the alto saxophone, which was both well received and touching, as some members of the audience were seen in tears.
“I am extremely proud of my accomplishment amidst several challenges. I have done something that my future self would thank me for. I have gained a wealth of knowledge in Management Theories, Policies, Principles and best practices etc. I hope to use the knowledge gained to enhance the organization as well as to motivate persons whom I may come into contact with,” said Cpl Thomas.
He added: “I thank God for keeping me every step of the way, without Him none of this would have been possible. Special thanks also to my family, friends and co-workers, who supported and encouraged me in one way or the other. I am eternally grateful.”
