St. Vincent and the Grenadines along with the world will be observing the month of May as Mental Health Awareness Month.
Mental Health Awareness Month is celebrated to highlight a specific area of concern internationally to raise awareness in Mental Health and eradicate stigma.
To commemorate Mental Health here, there will be a week of activities from Monday, May 13 to 19 under the theme “Body Image: how we think and feel about our bodies”.
Activities during the week are being coordinated by the staff of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre in Solidarity with Mental Health institutions worldwide.
The week of activities will commence on Monday, May 13, with the Minister of Health, wellness and the Environment- Honourable Luke Browne making an address to the nation.
On Tuesday, May 14, Schools will be making visits to the institutions.
Other activities include a panel discussion on the theme by Registered Psychological and Nursing team, group sessions with staff and patients on the said theme, among others.
The general public is invited to join the staff in observing the week of activities.
