Yachters Face Rocking Assault in Bequia

2 Min Read

Yachtees continue to face assaults across the Caribbean, and cruisers who venture into St Vincent waters are not spared.

According to a report by CSSN, the latest report took place in Bequia at the Bequia Marina on 10 May.

“Cruisers returned to the main dinghy dock with friends at 7.15pm, and as the second dinghy was departing, some young men began hurling objects/rocks at them from the dinghy dock and struck one of the cruisers in the head.”

Injuries were described as minor, and both crews returned to their yachts according to the report.

On 23 January, CSSN reported a robbery that occurred aboard a yacht anchored in Chateaubelair Bay.

The report indicated at approximately 10 p.m., the crew were aroused from their slumber by a thump or noise coming from the deck.

On January 16th, there was an attempted robbery in Keartons Bay.

Yachtees reported that after exiting their taxi, a young boy, seemingly around 10 years old, approached them wielding a large butcher knife and demanded their bag.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), despite a decline compared to previous years, continues to hold the leading position with 10% of all assaults reported among Yachtees.
