Youlou Art Centre Holds July/August Events

On Saturday, July 29th there will be a reception for the RED Show at the Youlou Art Centre. This remarkable show will be hanging in the centre until August 10th.

The 9 local artists participating in the show are : Sherika Sayers, Zen Punnett, Sean Roache, Ahmed Yunusa, Desteny Graves, Rachel Furbert, Tippi Punnett, Camille Musser and LeeAndra Thompson.

The screening of the documentary film “Reclaiming Paget Farm – Looking Back – Moving Forward, Will take place at the Youlou Art Centre on Saturday, August 5th at 6:30 pm.

This three part documentary film by Bequia film makers won a prize for Best Script and second place for the best film at the Caribbean Youth Film Festival recently held in St. Lucia.

The film was made through the work and efforts of a group in Bequia called “The Hub Collective” dedicated to empowering Bequia people of all ages through rich island culture and fresh opportunity in the arts.

The screening of this film will give the people of mainland St. Vincent an opportunity to hear and see the history of Paget Farm.

The stain glass artist and jewellery maker Connie Howard will be showing her stain glass and jewellery on the weekend of August 12 &13th at the Youlou Art centre. This presentation starts each day at 11 am.

Connie has been working with stain glass for many years. She was recently commissioned to make a stain glass piece for the St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Assumption, Kingstown.
