St. Vincent Public Service Union said Monday that they would appeal their “Vaccine Mandate” case to the London Privy Council.
The dispute originates from the government’s 2021 health standards, which required numerous public personnel to get the COVID-19 vaccine or be fired.
The union won in local courts, but the government prevailed on appeal at ECSC. The St. Vincent Public Service Union branded the verdict “a travesty of justice.”
The unions said Monday, “This matter must also be taken to the highest court. We must change it. Taking this to the Privy Council is vital for the country, existing and future governments, and Caribbean governments, not just the fired workers.”
On Monday, PSU President Elroy Boucher said the SVG government was the only one in the region to fire public personnel for refusing a vaccine.
