- Man who impregnated daughter pleads guilty to incest
- Judge describes it as ‘worst case ever heard’
“This is the worst case I have ever heard in my life,” Justice Ann-Marie Smith said after a dad admitted to having sex with his daughter. The 51-year-old admitted to having repeated affairs with his daughter between 2014 and 2015 and pleaded guilty to four counts of incest.
The man had sexual relations with his daughter when she was young, resulting in her pregnancy at 15. The defendant first disputed the charges in March 2023, starting his trial on Tuesday without legal representation.
The victim said her father abused her regularly since infancy. The trial was scheduled to resume on Wednesday after she shared her narrative, but a turning point occurred.
Attorney Wendel Alexander represented the defendant for gratis. After consulting with the attorney, the defendant amended his plea, resulting in a guilty conviction.
On Tuesday, the 25-year-old victim testified that she reported sexual assault to her school counsellor when she was 11, prompting police intervention.
She gave a witness statement and was evacuated from her house for safety. Her father forced her to write a letter falsely accusing the counsellor of fabricating abuse charges before she left.
She surrendered to her father and was kept in the terrible environment, where she was sexually assaulted. In June 2014, the defendant went home drunk and had sexual relations with his daughter in a construction zone.
In December of the following year, the victim was confirmed pregnant. She knew the child belonged to her father because he was the only one she had sex with.
She was abused sexually by the man even when pregnant. The defendant also had sexual relations with his daughter again before the six-week recuperation period, worsening her postpartum bleeding.
Around six months after the birth, she notified her welfare officer, who removed her from the home and placed her and the baby in a safe environment.
Despite being arrested in 2015, the case was never tried. After the victim sued him for child support, he was rearrested and accused in 2021. His bail was revoked Friday after admitting guilty. He remains on remand at His Majesty’s Prison until May 10 sentence.
