- SVGPF Provides Update on Park Hill Murders
The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is committed to keeping the public informed about significant developments in ongoing investigations. In a continued effort to uphold transparency, we are providing an update on the tragic incident reported in the Park Hill area earlier this month.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Kingstown Mortuary. The examination revealed that both men sustained multiple chop wounds and extensive thermal injuries. It was determined that both victims were deceased prior to being burned.
Thermal burns are skin injuries caused by excessive heat, typically from contact with hot surfaces, hot liquids, steam, or flame.
On April 8, 2024, Police discovered two partially burned bodies near the Park Hill Playing Field. The deceased have been identified as Brenton Barker and Kelvert “Vert” Smart, both residents of Park Hill. A thorough investigation led to the arrest and formal charging of Aldon Thomas, also from Park Hill, with the murders of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart. The alleged offenses occurred between April 6 and April 9, 2024, within the second magisterial district of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is alleged that Mr. Thomas, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the deaths of Mr. Barker and Mr. Smart by an unlawful act, contravening Chapter 171, Section 159, subsection 1 of the revised edition of the laws of SVG, 2009.
The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force continues its rigorous investigation into this heinous crime and ensures that all evidence is meticulously analyzed to serve justice.
