Lawrence Sydney Nicasio, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belize City and Belmopan, has died. He was 67 years old at the time.
Bishop Nicasio died peacefully about 4:54 a.m. on January 1, 2024, at his apartment in Belize City while under the care of hospice after an extended and debilitating battle with cancer, according to a statement from the Office of the Vicar General in Belize City.
The Catholic Diocese of Belize has expressed its condolences and prayers to his family, the priests, religious friends, and faithful whose lives he touched during his 34 years of priestly and episcopal ministry.
