The South Leeward Carnival Committee has a new name and is now referred to as the Cultural Development Committee of South Leeward.
The organization held a Prize Giving Ceremony for the Soca Monarch Competition on Thursday 23rd May at the Questelles Learning Resource Center.
The competition was held on Saturday 18th May at the Top Questelles Hardcourt.
11 competitors took part, according to members of the committee all participants gave a good account of themselves with Derron “Magikal” Rouse coming out on top with his song ‘BLOODY HELL CRAZY’.
Second place went to Kenville “Fornando” Horne with ‘NO SODA’ , and Delano Dat-CDQ Quow third with NO CAUTION.
Remarks were made by the president of the Committee Mr Jules Morgan along with Committee member Orande Bomani Charles, Rural Carnival Coordinator Mr. Ezzie Roberts and Mr. Punt-I Johnson who represented CARIB BEER, the official sponsor of The South Leeward Carnival.
