This March 5th, 2019 on the 6th anniversary of the passing of the Eternal Commander, Hugo Chávez Frías and the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines through its Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation conducted aesthetic- ludic activities with primary school students from this Caribbean country.
A group of grade 5 students of the “Cane End Government School” and grade 4 students of the “Belmont Primary School” received an orientation class about Venezuela, including its geographical condition, its proximity and similarities with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, its history, culture and traditions.
Francisco Pérez Santana, head of the Venezuelan mission and Andreína Bermúdez, Coordinator of the Venezuelan Institute, explained in a dynamic and fun way, the life of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, his dream of building the great homeland and the Bolivarian doctrine as one of the roots of the Bolivarian Revolution.
As the central axis of the activity, the students got to know who Commander Hugo Chávez Frías was through the stages of his life, such as; Chávez the child, Chávez, the baseball player, Chávez the military, Chávez the leader, Chávez and his love for children, among other facets. This information allowed them to know more about the top leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, his legacy and his love for the peoples of the world.
At both institutions, a children’s short video ” Stories of the spider ” with subtitles and voice-overs in English made by the Embassy was projected, it related the childhood and adolescence of Commander Chávez, and the important characters who marked his evolution as is the case of his grandmother Rosa Inés, his parents, brothers, and Colonel Pedro Pérez Delgado; as well as his love for reading and his continuous search for knowledge.
The students of the primary schools had the opportunity to pay homage to Commander Chávez through art; As a sample of their creativity, they made various drawings of the different stages of the Commander, images chosen by the children, who with colored pencils, paint, markers, chalk, in an atmosphere of friendship and teamwork, demonstrated that Chavez’s legacy continues to travel the world as a legacy of peace and joy.
At the end of the activity, the students received a certificate from the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation “Hugo Chávez Frías” for their participation in this tribute. They exhibited their creations and shared their experience thanking the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela for this educational and fun activity.
