39-year-old Benneta James along with 25-year-old Mark Williams both from the community of Chateaubelair and New Montrose respectively who were jointly indicted on a charge of handling stolen goods between June 9th and July 2nd, 2013 in the sum of EC$110,000.00 have been convicted.
James and Williams were on the afternoon of January 23rd, 2019 convicted by a nine-member jury at the High Court in Kingstown.
The Court heard that following a report of burglary at the General Employees Co-operated Credit Union branch at Georgetown on the dates in question.
Law Enforcement Officers mounted an investigation into the matter and it was during such time Williams was taken into custody and based on certain information James was then taken into custody.
A warrant was subsequently executed at the Chateaubelair home, James took the police on a hillside where the money was dug up from a yam hole.
Sentencing on both accused has been adjourned to March 8th, 2019 to await a Social Welfare report before James and Williams know their fate. They were both remanded into custody until such time.
