Dutch royal family begins visit to the Caribbean islands
The King of the Netherlands, Queen Maxima, and Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands have arrived in Aruba for the second stage of their trip of the Dutch Caribbean.
The Royal Family will spend a jam-packed two days in the second most populous Dutch territory.
The royals will be greeted at Wilhelmina Square before being whisked away for meetings with Governor Alfsonso Boekhoudt and political party leaders.
The royals will meet members of the public and attend performances by a local learning orchestra and youth choir before meeting Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes and her cabinet for lunch.
The party will continue in the afternoon to the artistic town of San Nicolas.
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Princess Catharina-Amalia will attend a performance on Aruban-Dutch resistance fighter Boy Ecury at the Filomena College Secondary School.
The royals will conclude their first day in Aruba with a brief visit to the Museum of Industry and street performances.
The King and Queen of the Netherlands, as well as the Princess of Orange, will visit Arikok National Park on Tuesday. They will hike in the park, meet the filmmakers of a nature documentary, and talk with junior rangers in the Centre of Cultivation about environmental protection and management.
The royal party will then visit Royal Aruba Aloe, a company founded in 1890, where they will speak with employees and see how the company cultivates aloe vera and uses it in the production of skincare goods.
