Earthquake reported near Caribbean islands

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake was recorded in the vicinity of three Caribbean islands early this morning- St Lucia, Martinique and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC) said it occurred around 1:27 am local time at a depth of 15.6 km.

According to the Automatic Earthquake Location from the UWI Seismic Research Centre, the quake struck:

  • 16km NE of Castries, Saint Lucia

  • 50km SSE of Fort-de-France, Martinique

  • 117km NNE of Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines
