With a budget of over $11,000, the Ministry of Education, Facey Trading SVG limited and America Fresh Powder Laundry Detergent will host the first ever National Science Quiz.
The inaugural National Science Fair, will begin on April 23rd and continue through until 29th April.
The quiz will target the lower forms of secondary schools with further expansion in the future.
Speaking at the press launch, Manager of Facey Trading SVG Ltd Mr Harry Gibson says in 2018 Facey decide to become an integral part of children’s education and approach the ministry to find ways in which they could assist.
He says the ministry was very accepting of such idea and introduce Facey Trading SVG Ltd to the National Science Quiz.
Gibson says science is a focal point right now and sought it fit to approach America Fresh makers of the America Fresh Powder laundry detergent which is safe and has no phosphate to damage the environment.
With that being a scientific plus, Facey Trading SVG Ltd thought it fit to twin the product with the science quiz.
Gibson said the quiz which is the first, won’t be the last and he is excited to see the performance of students and looks forward to the keen competition.
He says he hopes through the competition the students would find more ways which can further benefit the environment.
Gibson says Facey Trading SVG ltd wants to hold the competition yearly.
Senior Education Officer Aldia Gumbs-Dyer, says science and technology is one of the core subjects which engages students from Kindergarten to form 5, she says by its very nature it presents a platform where children can acquire key skills and competencies.
Gumbs -Dyer commended Facey Trading SVG Ltd and America Fresh Powder Laundry Detergent for embracing the new venture which is intended to inspire and motivate students.
Gumbs -Dyer says the ministry is very pleased with the partnership and financial support from Facey Trading SVG Ltd and America Fresh Powder Laundry Detergent, and noted that the seed planted by the company will bear fruits.
The quiz will target form 2 students from twenty-six schools across the country, they will first compete in five zones with the winning teams from each zones advancing to the national level for the final round.
The first round which will begin on 23rd April will see the Sandy Bay Secondary, George Stevens Senior, Georgetown Secondary, North Union Secondary and Adelphi Secondary compete at the South Central learning resource centre.
The sponsorship provided by Facey Trading SVG Limited and America Fresh Powder Laundry Detergent will go towards, Transportation, accommodations, Food and Prizes.
The finals of the competition will take place on May 13th at the Girl Guide Headquarters.
