2 Min Read

On the 5th of September, 2005, the George Stephens Senior Secondary School opened its doors in the small community of Colonarie to cater to the educational needs of students from the villages of Colonarie, South Rivers, Park Hill and Byera.

Named in honour of the late Mr. George Stephens Senior, a prominent and respected principal of the Colonarie R.C Primary School who made significant contributions to education, George Stephens Senior Secondary School proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday 5th September, 2025 with a service of thanksgiving at the St. Joseph’s R.C Church, Belle Vue.

As part of the celebrations and in recognition of World Food Day, the Social Sciences Department organized a community outreach initiative in which ten (10) food packages were distributed across five (5) communities where students reside – Colonarie, Byera, South Rivers, Park Hill and Diamonds.

This initiative aimed to strengthen the bond between the school and its surrounding communities, while teaching students the importance of empathy and social responsibility.
