54-year-old Arlene Gaymes a domestic from Barrouallie who was remanded into custody by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne at the Serious Offences Court pending sentence after she appeared and entered a plea of guilty on a charge of unlawful and malicious wounding counted her lucky stars when she not given a jail term.
Gaymes is accused of arming herself with a piece of block on January 3rd, 2019 at Barrouallie public road and inflicted a severe wound to the forehead of 61 years old Claire Ashton of the same address during a fracas when both parties exchanged words to each other.
Ashton was hospitalized following the incident.
On Friday, January 18th when Gaymes re-appeared before Magistrate Browne she was placed on a bond to be of good behaviour for the next nine months in the sum of $1,500.00 in default she will serve a 9 months jail sentence.
Gaymes was also ordered to pay compensation in the sum of $2,000.00 of which $500.00 was to be paid forthwith or face a 2 months jail sentence.
The balance of $1,500.00 is to be paid by March 13th, 2019 or in default she will serve a 6 months jail sentence.
