JUDGE FREDERICK BRUCE-LYLE DIES AT AGE 62

The local Bar Association and by extension the Vincentian public was plunged into mourning today after it was announced that Retired High Court Judge, Justice Frederick Victor Bruce-Lyle died last night at age 62.

 Justice Bruce-Lyle passed away in Trinidad, where he had travelled to earlier this week.Bruce-Lyle was born on August 6, 1953, in Accra, Ghana.

He served as a judge in several Caribbean countries and had became a naturalized citizen of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In 1999, Bruce-Lyle was appointed by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission of the Caribbean Community as a High Court Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court based here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. In 2013, he became the longest serving High Court Judge.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said today that he was shocked and saddened by news of the passing of Justice Bruce-Lyle.

Speaking on the Shake Up Programme via telephone from Italy where he is meeting with investors, the Prime Minister said Bruce-Lyle was a good friend of his, and expressed condolences to his family.
