Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
You have been erupting since the 9th of April, emptying your belly.
Our country has been destroyed from the fall of your ashes
even on the roads, you have caused crashes.
House roofs falling in, as your ashes rain down,
What? You think you deserve a crown?
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
Our tanks are empty, our water systems disrupted,
some can’t even wash their clothes, since you have erupted.
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
Water to consume has become a scarce commodity,
People in the shelters are crying, saying there is no equality.
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry??
Your pyroclastic flow has been swarming the leeward coast,
it’s like you have no remorse for the livestock, as you hover them like a ghost,
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
Families separated, lifestyle’s changed,
many evacuated, and life as we knew it, you rearranged.
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
Eruption after eruption, without a care in the world,
Soon as we think its over, here you go again,
Like you’re taking a purge.
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
Ashes covering Barbados like you’re half owned by them,
You have caused so many damages,
Oh gosh, we’re overwhelmed.
So, with all this being said, we ask you this question; after 42 yrs of silence,
Madame Soufriére, why are you so angry?
