The National Council of St Vincent and the Grenadines Associations United Kingdom (NCSVGA UK) in conjunction with the SVG High Commission based in London has this week donated $30,000 of supplies to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
A large number of supplies were donated via a professional partner of Oxford SVG and Friends Association, shipping was carried out by Waypoint Enterprises.
The combined collection was gladly received from:
- Bishop Wesley Sealy and members of the New Testament Churches in the UK,
- Danny Williams of Abingdon UK,
- The Sacred Heart Church Blackbird Leys, Oxford UK
- Buzz Gym Westgate rooftop, Oxford.
The Chair of the Oxford SVG and Friends Association, Ms Catherine Sutherland offered her thanks to those that donated and asked the people in the diaspora to continue to donate as the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines continue rebuilding after the most recent series of eruptions of La Soufriere.
The supplies were handed over by the NCSVGA UK recently formed ground force currently operating from Kingstown to The New Testament churches and RedRoots. Phylicia Alexander-Lavia from RedRoot SVG stated ‘our heartfelt thank you, We are extremely grateful; these donations have assisted us in providing over 3,000 food baskets to displaced persons and those who are less fortunate.’
The National Council of SVG Associations UK comprises various groups across the UK including Coventry, Derby & Long Eaton, Ladds Winsborough, Luton, Oxford, Reading, Wycombe Multicultural Organisation (WMCO) and St Vincent and the Grenadines second generation (SV2G).
