The recent trip made by a government delegation to Dubai, cost the taxpayers of St Vincent Zero Dollars.
This was made know by Prime Minister Gonsalves following a question from Opposition Leader Godwin Friday during a meeting of parliament on Monday, March 11, 2019.
Gonsalves told parliament that the Dubai leg of the journey including accommodation left no burden on taxpayers.
He noted that the trip and accommodation was paid for by the organizers of the World Government Conference.
Gonsalves further stated that the New York leg incurred expense since he would have remained a few more days to meet with investors.
Such expense amounted to $23, 289.52 Eastern Caribbean Dollars.
“ I just want the public to know that the PM gets US $60.00 for international travel, throughout the OECS it’s EC $ 60.00, the Prime Ministers does not get Per Diem I have to share it with her, such Per Diem was abandoned on the ULP taking office in 2001”.
The purpose of the trip was to attend the World Government Conference.
