There is now a tense standoff between protesters and police on the Caribbean island of St Vincent.
The protest held by the Public Service Union has now descended into legal struggles between the police and lawyers as to what can and cannot be done while holding a protest.
A protester was taken into custody by police for playing the drum earlier this afternoon.
A drum is a member of the percussion group of musical instruments primarily used by people of African descent.
Lawyers for the Opposition had a heated discussion with police over what a musical instrument is before the protester was taken into custody and his instrument was confiscated.
Another protester who was placed in a chokehold by police was taken into custody.
While the reasons for his arrest are unclear, this media house understands that he is the husband of Opposition Senator Shevern John.
Also, on Thursday afternoon, social activist Adriana King was taken into custody for a second time.
On Wednesday, police told king’s lawyer Kay Bacchus Baptiste that king would be arrested under the Parliamentary Privileges Act.
The protest is being held by the Pubic Service Union against mandatory vaccination and is being backed by the Opposition party and several other activists groups.
Opposition leader Godwin Friday said the protest must be taken to the seat of power to ensure that the people’s voice is heard.
The Opposition is expected to hold a procession around Kingstown in defiance of police orders not to do so.
