On Thursday, President Maduro strongly criticized the European Union after being informed that the European Parliament had issued a resolution calling for more sanctions against his country.
“The European Union does not exist for us,” he said emphatically in response to a question from a journalist when he was at the Carupano City’s airport.
Previously, the European Parliament approved a resolution urging the European Union to tighten coercive measures against Venezuela, citing alleged repressive actions against opposition politicians.
Approved with 497 votes in favor, 22 against, and 27 abstentions, this European resolution specifically requests that Venezuelan authorities allow the electoral participation of Maria Corina Machado, an opposition politician.
The text reads, “Thousands of men and women of the homeland express deep love for their leader Nicolas Maduro in Carupano. ‘Thanks to the Carupano people. What a joy to arrive and be received in all the streets and avenues by a loving, revolutionary, and more-Chavista-than-ever people,” President Nicolas Maduro said.
On Thursday, Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez also rejected the European parliamentarians’ interventionist attitude.
“Those rude legislators… insist on meddling and interfering in matters that only concern Venezuela. That’s pure garbage. We reject it and repudiate it,” he said, adding that Venezuela will never invite the European Union to send electoral observers due to these attitudes.

New Attempt to Assassinate Venezuelan President is Thwarted
On Wednesday, Attorney General Tarek William Saab reported the arrest of two individuals who intended to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Whillfer Piña and Renzo Flores, who are members of the “Radical Cause” organization, were detained for making threats against the Bolivarian leader. Authorities apprehended them in Maturin on March 11.
During the arrest operation, authorities seized a cell phone containing WhatsApp conversations mentioning armed individuals wearing masks.
Flores claimed to have met Piña about eight months ago. During their meeting, Piña mentioned having contacted former classmates from the Military Academy to recruit 50 soldiers, seize a tank and weapons arsenal from a military facility, and carry out a coup d’état.
“To those who think that detaining these individuals for threatening the life of President Maduro is excessive, I remind them of the long history of detentions and convictions in the United States for threats against various presidents of that country,” Saab said.

Venezuelan Production Committees Defeated Imperialist Blackmail
On Tuesday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and social leaders celebrated the eighth anniversary of the Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP).
At an event held in the state of Guarico, the Bolivarian leader recalled that this social program was established in 2015, when the United States intensified its arbitrary sanctions against the South American country.
“Initially, the CLAPs were born in response to the greatest aggression that Venezuela has suffered. They have remained to guarantee our people’s food sovereignty. Long live the CLAPs!” Maduro said.
“They represent the miracle of a people who decided not to yield to imperialist blackmail and who produce their own sustenance,” he emphasized on the National Food Day.
Maduro also recalled that the traditional Venezuelan elites used to hoard food and speculate with prices to generate discontent towards the Bolivarian revolution. However, these destabilizing maneuvers were thwarted with social programs.
“Through the CLAPs, we managed to defeat the ‘queue war’ and began the path to the country’s economic recovery,” he pointed out.
