The Solidarity Movement of St. Vincent and the Grenadines held a virtual concert on Friday, April 30th in support of the Vincentian people due to the devastation caused in the northern part of the Caribbean island by the explosive eruption of the La Soufrière Volcano.
The Embassy of Venezuela in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and its Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation Hugo Chávez Frías participated in the activity called Solidarity with SVG in concert. Have hope, stay strong. We are holding your hand, which was attended by culturists, musicians and social movements from Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Nigeria, United Kingdom, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
The event was led by the Vice-President of the Solidarity Movement, Laura Stephens-Dublin; who took the opportunity to thank the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the humanitarian aid and the maritime bridge to support the Vincentian people who are in a refugee conditions, suffering the consequences of the volcano.
Among the culturists and leaders of social movements who participated in the event include: UK rapper; 2 Badda, Vincentians; Brendon Robertson, Dorrage Stephens, Mashia Edmund, Darron Andrews, Jamaicans; Charmaine Limonius, Elad-Elroy Daron, Chris Morris, King Lasana, Wendell Goodrige, Kinte Stephens, Hamidullah Wahid of Trinidad and Tobago Tobago, Fyaktu Elisha John from Nigeria; Zahily Laidlow of Cuba, along with the Venezuelans Ali Alejandro Primera, and Luis Felipe Bellorín.
Each of the artistes expressed their support and solidarity with the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who, in addition to suffering the onslaught of Covid-19, have resisted the natural consequences of the effusive eruption of the volcano. The Venezuelan diplomatic mission in SVG, meanwhile, celebrates and supports the development of this kind of musical artistic expressions that motivate the Vincentian people to continue facing complex situations as the ones brought about in 2021.
