Drug bust at RLB International Airport
The police in St. Kitts and Nevis have arrested a person who brought drugs in toothpaste tubes from Tortola to their country.
At this point, neither the person’s gender nor their country of origin is known.
The St. Kitts-Nevis Times says that the drugs were taken by Customs officers at the R.L.B. International Airport on December 12. They found nine tubes of toothpaste that had plant matter in them, which they think was cannabis.
Police from the Anti-Narcotics Unit checked the person’s luggage before taking them into custody after the Customs officers called them.
The case is still being looked into, and anyone with information should go to the Basseterre Police Station and talk to the Criminal Investigation Department.
In the meantime, the news that the drugs left Tortola comes after the BVI government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CARICOM to protect security and borders.
BVI joined the Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), which allows the exchange of Advance Passenger Information (API).
The Prime Minister said that the API agreement will make it easier for people to get into the territory.
