Opposition member of Parliament Daniel Cummings disclosed that the New Democratic Party has been suggesting to the government to consider a parallel healthcare system in SVG during the pandemic.
Cummings says the present Covid-19 situation in this country is alarming and sad, yet not surprising.
Speaking on the New Times program, Cummings explained that such a hospital or clinic would be dedicated exclusively to treating Covid-19 patients.
He said an analysis of the recent deaths of persons due to COVID, indicates that a significant percentage were hospitalised at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
Cummings noted that there is no evident mechanism to assist COVID positive patients in isolation at their homes.
The West Kingstown MP described what happens at the MCMH and the Argyle Isolation Facility as nothing but a recipe for disaster.
Cummings says looking at the situation in Parliament is a clear indication that politics has pushed its way into everything, including health.
He says the new protocols underscore how partisan politics has reached a new low.
The Opposition MP said the government missed the boat by forcing people to take the vaccine, which he opines, is a most doltish approach that is ineffective.
Cummings said he is baffled by the government’s refusal to make masks mandatory.
