SVG Ramps Up Its Profile In A Bid For Security Council Seat

Six young Vincentians all with professional backgrounds have been added to the staff of the Permanent Mission of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to the United Nations (UN) as SVG gets ready to ramp up its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

The new staffers at the Mission, are Isis Gonsalves, Ellis Phillips, Jimesha Prince, Westford Joseph, Roxanne Russell and Gareth Bynoe.

Bynoe will be coordinator for sustainable development and a special adviser at the Mission.

Gonsalves will be the political coordinator and the coordinator of the Security Council Team at the Mission.

Prince will be a special adviser on the Security Council Team, Westford Joseph is an attaché and a special adviser to ECOSOC.

Ellis Phillips will be a special adviser on climate change, Roxanne Russell  is the Ambassador’s assistant.

Elections for the non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council will be held in June 2019.

Once elected the two-year term will be from 2020 to 2021.
