Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil criticised U.S. assistance for Maduro assassination plotters on Tuesday.
On social media, the Venezuelan diplomate responded to U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian Nichols’ explicit defence of opposition politicians accused of major crimes.
This U.S. official has called for the release of residents of “Vente Venezuela,” a right-wing party that opposes socialism in South America.
Emill Brandt, Juan Freitas, Luis Camacaro, Guillermo Lopez, and Rocio San Miguel are charged by Venezuelan authorities of destabilisation and political terrorism.
Foreign Minister Gil stated that Nichols’ support for those individuals shows Washington’s objectives towards Venezuela.
“The obstinate and shameful defence of people who attempted to create chaos, destruction, and death in Venezuela has clashed with the dignity of our people, who have defeated every conspiracy in a dignified and courageous manner,” stated Gil.
“The Empire and its great-surnamed lackeys have failed and will fail. We’ll succeed!”
