- A Human Act Of Mercy: PM Gonsalves
The St. Vincent government is not spending any money to facilitate Vybz Kartel’s visit to the island to consult about his medical condition (Graves disease).
Gonsalves revealed that Vybz Kartel’s lawyer, Isat Buchanan, informed him that the government has experts in Graves’ disease, hypothyroidism, which is a condition that he and Mr. Palmer suffer from.
Buchanan asked if it would be okay for Kartel to visit SVG to meet with these specialists. Gonsalves explained that they have a high-quality specialist, an endocrinologist, a Cuban with a supportive team, including specialists in internal medicine.
Gonsalves stated that the government will not be spending money to keep Mr. Palmer here. He stated that the impulse to help someone in need came from a single word: mercy.
