Additional incidents of theft targeting yachtsmen and their vessels persist in St. Vincent, with the most recent occurrence taking place at Blue Lagoon, situated on the southeastern side of the island.
CSSN has reported that a cruising vessel, which was anchored and occupied for a duration of 4 days in Blue Lagoon, was subject to theft of a handheld VHF radio.
The owner left the boat unattended and properly secured for a period of 2 hours in order to gather supplies. Upon his return, he noticed that the helm cover on the fly bridge had been unlocked and the handheld VHF radio had been taken.
There was no official record filed with the police.
Recently, a group of sailors on Union Island were compelled to remunerate a sum of USD $500 in order to retrieve a pilfered dinghy.
The report indicated that, despite making contact with the police, they did not arrive. The yachtsmen left the island soon after, due to concerns about their safety.
