St Vincent and the Grenadines have recorded another COVID-19 death. This now brings the total to 14.
According to Minister of Finance Camilo Gonsalves the cluster of COVID infections in Choppins that claimed one life last week has now claimed another person.
Gonsalves said the victim was closely associated with the first death. A third elderly person in that cluster is fighting for her life, Gonsalves reported.
Gonsalves on his Facebook page said residents of Choppins came out IMPRESSIVELY for a special vaccination event on Wednesday.
“39 residents were vaccinated, and testing revealed another 4 positive cases in the community. So many people showed up that, when the event ended at 7 pm, there was still demand for tests and vaccines”.
“The turnout was so strong that the Ministry of Health officials will return to Choppins THIS FRIDAY to continue testing and vaccination efforts”.
Gonsalves said he is proud of the community response, and everyone involved in spreading the news and urging their neighbours to attend.
“Let’s all be safe and encourage our neighbours to be safe as well”, Gonsalves said.
