On July 5, 2026, police arrested and charged Devorn Baptiste, a 35-year-old resident of Georgetown, with possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition.
According to investigations, Baptiste allegedly had in his possession one 9mm semi-automatic pistol, make and serial number unknown, without a licence issued under the Firearms Act. He was also charged with allegedly having eight rounds of 9mm ammunition without a licence issued under the Firearms Act.
The offences were allegedly committed in Arnos Vale on July 4, 2026.
Baptiste appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, where he was granted bail in the sum of EC$15,000 with conditions. He was ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to the Central Police Station every Wednesday and Friday between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
The matter has been transferred to the Serious Offences Court for Monday, July 13, 2026.
